One suspect is still at large after an attempted robbery and shooting outside a bank in Metro Detroit that left another suspect dead.

It happened Thursday afternoon at a Bank of America branch on Gratiot Avenue in Macomb County's Clinton Township.

Police Chief Fred Posavetz said an armored truck guard was coming out of the bank with bundles of cash when he was confronted by two robbers. According to the chief, the guard handed over the money and a gun battle ensued.

One of the alleged robbers was killed. In the exchange of gunfire, the guard also shot a getaway driver who was sitting nearby in a stolen minivan. The guard was not injured. Police did not have an identification for the dead suspect.

The hunt continues for the driver who, according to police, fled the scene before ditching the vehicle. The money was recovered and the bank reopened for business today.
