Four legislative committees in Lansing are teaming up to look into the invasive species problem in the Great Lakes.
The committees will convene next week to hear from the US Army Corps of Engineers on its recent findings of the Great Lakes Mississippi River Interbasin Study. The study, revealed earlier this year, presents various options on how to deal with invasive species, especially the Asian Carp, which scientists say poses a great threat to the Great Lakes ecosystem.
The joint hearing will include the House Natural Resources Committee, House Tourism Committee, Senate Natural Resources, Environment and Great Lakes Committee and Senate Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Committee. They will meet Tuesday, February 18.
