Wind Chill Warning For All Of West Michigan

Wind Chill Warning For All Of West Michigan
Posted January 28th, 2014 @ 4:19am by WOOD Radio News Team

The National Weather Service reminds you of the Wind Chill Warning until 7 o'clock tomorrow morning.

And the official Winter Weather Advisory runs until tonight. We may see as much as 5 inches of new snow almost anywhere in West Michigan before tomorrow evening.

And, during that time, your exposed skin can freeze dead in as little as 15 minutes. Windchills are expected to be 15 to 30 below zero.

For those keeping score, Grand Rapids' total seasonal snowfall now is 75 inches; Muskegon, 93.

Allegan County's government shuts down its offices today for the weather and the Allegan Sheriff's Office asks you to stay off the roads.

If you absolutely must go out, emergency responders want you to remember your emergency stuff in the car: shovel, flashlight, blankets, boots, heavy gloves.  They warn that, if you get stuck, you could be waiting for a long time for the response.
