NFL Teams Haven't Forgiven Cam Newton For Not Jumping on Super Bowl Fumble

NFL Teams Haven't Forgiven Cam Newton For Not Jumping on Super Bowl Fumble
Jonas Knox: “Part of the issue with Cam Newton is people have still not forgiven him for not diving on the loose ball in the Super Bowl and for walking out on the press conference after the Super Bowl… I get that not diving looked bad, but let’s not all of the sudden pretend that Cam Newton is not willing to put his body on the line and sacrifice himself. C’mon, the guy came back from flipping his truck and had a broken back. People forget all the physical runs and plays he has made over the course of his career. In the moment it looked like he wasn’t willing to put his body on the line but I’ve got a lot more moments where he was.” (Full Audio Above)

Listen to Jonas Knox discuss Cam Newton’s uncomfortable and potentially perilous free agent market that doesn’t seem to appear very lively for the former MVP who suddenly can’t find work.

Newton finds himself unemployed in a quarterback market that will still have him competing against Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton for a roster spot, and with the Washington Redskins recently signing Cam’s backup Kyle Allen, with Cam’s former head coach Ron Rivera having a lot to do with that signing, it doesn’t appear like Newton’s arrival somewhere will be imminent whatsoever.

Check out the audio above as Jonas Knox details why he believes teams never forgot Newton not diving for a fumble in Super Bowl 50 versus the Denver Broncos in 2013, as the game-changing turnover has become one of the most indelible plays of the generation.
