GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids is holding a poster competition for the 175th anniversary of the city.
The city says their goal is to have an official, commemorative poster to remember the 175th anniversary for years to come.
Artists should create a poster with what the city means to them. The artwork should highlight shared experiences, celebrate the everyday and help residents feel connected.
The competition is open to artists of all ages but is limited to one entry per person. All entries must be original art and be created by the entrant. The pieces must be in good taste. Entries are due by July 25 and public voting will take place in August.
The top-voted submission will receive $1,500 in exchange for the City's right to print at least 300 posters and digitally display the art. Second and third place will win $250 in exchange for Grand Rapids to print at least five posters and use the art digitally.
Artists will retain the ownership rights to their art.
More information is available on the city's website.
