A Florida man is accused of opening fire in a home as young children hid under blankets. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said that Shavell Jordan Jones, 23, got into an argument with his girlfriend and began to remove his belongings from the home early Friday (November 4) morning.

They continued to argue, and Jones pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking multiple people inside the house. One of the wounded victims escaped and ran to a neighbor's house to call 911.

When officers arrived, they found five people with gunshot wounds. Three women and a four-year-old child were pronounced dead with gunshot wounds to the head. Jones was also injured with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to the hospital and is undergoing surgery.

Two other children in the home, ages 4 and 6, hid under blankets when the shots rang out and were unharmed.

Officials said that if Jones survives, he would be charged with murder.

Neighbors were shocked by the killings in their quiet neighborhood.

"Four in the morning, somebody started knocking at the door, and when I got out, it was a lady with her face full of blood. At that moment, we called the police. We tried to help her as best as we could, and we find out a little later everything that happened in there," neighbor Johnny Ramirez told WESH.

"We don't have no problems. They been coming up and down this street for years now. It's kind of hard for us to believe what happened," he added.
