At least one person has died and 11 others were injured during a mass shooting at a popular tourist hotspot of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Saturday (April 26) night, authorities confirmed via the New York Post.

Officers said they “observed a disturbance involving multiple individuals” near the Ripley's Believe It Or Not on North Ocean Boulevard when one person opened fire at around 11:50 p.m. local time. An officer responded by opening fire, which resulted in one person being shot and dying from injuries sustained, police confirmed.

Video of the incident shared on social media showed a person lying face down on the sidewalk while being restrained by two officers. A woman was seen grabbing her leg as two officers appeared to give her medical aid.

“I remember hearing gunfire shots just start going off everywhere,” said Michael Howard, an eyewitness who was present at the scene, via ABC 15. “I remember seeing a girl fall that had been injured, I remember seeing the guy who had been shot fall to the ground."

“I seen blood everywhere. It was just very traumatizing,” he added.

Myrtle Beach is one of the United States' most popular vacation destinations with an estimated more than 17 million visitors annually, according to VisitMyrtleBeach.com.
