An eight-year-old girl with autism was found by a Florida police officer on jagged rocks near the water at Clearwater Pass. On May 10, the girl, who is non-verbal and does not know how to swim, went missing near the beach while visiting the area with her family. Officer Billups responded quickly to the call and located the girl in a construction area behind a hotel, standing on large rocks at the ocean's edge.

Body camera footage captured the moment Officer Billups safely pulled the girl to safety. The Clearwater Police Department praised his quick response and dedication to community safety, noting that if the girl had fallen into the water, she could have drowned in the dangerous current.

"We’re grateful for his quick response and dedication to keeping our community safe," the Clearwater Police Department wrote on Instagram.

Officer Billups' actions not only prevented a potential tragedy but also brought immense relief to the girl's distressed family.
