The big story of the NFL Draft last weekend was Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders falling to the 5th round after spending Day 1 seemingly forgotten by all 32 NFL teams. The conspiracy theorists have crawled out of the woodwork to explain his precipitous drop, but Doug considers the reports of his scandalous behavior in and around the NFL Combine. If even half of the rumors of his arrogance are true, he’d need to be a guaranteed Hall of Famer for any franchise to take a risk on him in the early rounds.
Doug Gottlieb: “You guys have all heard the stories by now. And all the stories may not be true, but if half of them are, that’s probably enough. No one says you have to kowtow; you have to bow your head to people, you have to…no! You could be confident, you could be respectful, you can’t be an A-hole, and he presented himself as one. And you’re not talented enough to overcome the perception of him being a negative.”
