Bystanders pull driver out of car before it sinks in Allendale Twp. pond

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office say a vehicle ended up in a pond in Allendale Township following a crash this afternoon.

It happened around 12:30 at 60th Avenue and Warner Street.

The Sheriff's Office says the car driven by an 83-year-old Coopersville man had veered off 60th Avenue, went through a field and then into the water. Bystanders used a row boat to get out to the vehicle and pull the driver out before the vehicle sank. The driver was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The Sheriff's Office dive team helped remove the vehicle from the pond.

LIFE EMS arrived and transported the driver to the hospital who is in stable condition. The Ottawa County Sherrifs Office dive team assisted in the removal of the vehicle from the pond.

Members of the following agencies responded to the incident: the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Grand Haven Township Fire/Rescue, Robinson township Fire, Life EMS.
