BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Ottawa County Central dispatchers said a three-vehicle crash in Blendon Township on Friday afternoon resulted in an intersection being closed for nearly two hours.
It happened around 12:20 p.m. at Port Sheldon Street and 72nd Avenue. The intersection is a four-way stop.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said an SUV being driven by a 68-year-old Zeeland woman failed to stop and crashed into two other vehicles in the intersection. Her vehicle then left the roadway, striking a utility pole. That resulted in some power lines dropping down onto the intersection, on top of the crashed vehicles.
Consumers Energy responded to remove the wires, and crews from Blendon Township Fire/Rescue removed some patients from the wreckage. Life EMS took them to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The injured included the 68-year-old, as well as the 77-year-old driver of one of the other vehicles. He is from Hudsonville. The third driver, a 38-year-old man from West Olive, was not injured.
