GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The Better Business Bureau of West Michigan has sent out a warning about a scam where fraudsters over-the-phone pose as loan officers.

They will leave a voicemail claiming they need more details to complete a loan application.

The agency says those who call back are asked to reveal Social Security numbers and banking details.

"This is just kind of a random cold call on the list," said Katie Grevious with the BBB told WOOD-TV. "That just means at some point, they got your phone number from somewhere – whether it was a data breach - or just the Whitepages online."
