Michigan International Auto Show ready to roll in downtown GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Michigan International Auto Show kicks into high gear Thursday at the DeVos Place Convention Center in downtown Grand Rapids.

The show hours are Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The address is 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 through 14.

The Grand Rapids New Car Dealers Association is hosting the annual event, and Showspan Inc. is organizing it. There will be the usual array of snazzy new cars and dazzling vintage vehicles on display. It also is a chance to get a sneak peek at the future of automotive innovation and a look at the latest technology.

Gentex is bringing in some new displays this year, including a 1970 Plymouth Cuda called "Infected." Th reimagined vehicle features a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Hellcrate engine and a Tremec six-speed transmission, among other amenities. It was custom-built by Ringbrothers.

Show Manager Dawn Baker with Showspan said on West Michigan's Morning News you will notice a new look this year the moment you enter the grand gallery.

The Cars for Kids Gala was scheduled for Wednesday, January 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The exclusive preview benefits children at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
