HOLLAND, Mich. -- Holland Police say an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of a 17-year-old boy's death Friday morning at the Bay Pointe Apartment complex.
Officers arrived at the location on East 16th Street near Waverly Road around 4:15 a.m. They said they were confronted by the boy's 39-year-old mother, who was holding a knife. She allegedly refused to drop it after several verbal commands, so they Tased her and took her into custody.
They then found her son's body inside their apartment. Now, detectives are trying to figure out what started the situation.
They're waiting for the results of an autopsy to come back.
The Holland DPS added this in a news release:
"The individuals are mother and son who resided together in the apartment. Names are being withheld at this time for family notification and the on-going investigation.
No further information will be released at this time. More details will be put out once more information is available and detectives receive the results of the autopsy.
Holland DPS officers were assisted on scene by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Holland DPS Fire Services, AMR and the HDPS Victim Services Unit.
