Afternoon update: Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom said no one was taken into custody in the vicinity of Bates Street between Eastern and Dolbee avenues after a search was done late Sunday night.
"In that earlier one, the officers developed some intelligence. I wouldn't call it a standoff, but we did execute a search warrant there for some evidence," he said.
As for the other incident on Batchawana Street, Chief Winstrom said a man was found with a gunshot wound and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Winstrom says both shootings appear to have been targeted attacks, so the general public was not at risk.
