GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The City of Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Department is launching a new Outdoor Pool Season Pass program.
City residents ages 17 and younger can sign up to receive free access before the pools open on June 6th.
The city said the new pass system will allow entry at all three city pool locations. Pass holders will receive a card for quick scanning at the gate, or they can have their membership looked up by staff.
Here are more details from the city's news release:
As part of this initiative, city residents ages 17 and under can receive free pool access by signing up for the season pass before pools open June 6. Parents and guardians 18 years and older can register their youth for the free pool access program at grparks.info/2025poolpass.
“At a time when families are navigating rising living costs, we’re excited to offer a way for Grand Rapids youth to enjoy our city pools at no cost this summer,” said Nicole Braunschneider, aquatics coordinator. “City pools are a summer staple and every child should have the chance to enjoy them. This new season pass makes visits easier and more affordable for parents – with just one low-cost pass, or free if you sign up early, kids can swim all summer at any of our three pools.”
This year’s improved pass system will allow for seamless entry at all three city pool locations, with pass holders receiving a physical card for quick scanning at the gate or the option to have their membership looked up by staff. Cards will be available for pickup at the department’s offices at 245 State St. before pool opening day or at an individual’s first visit to the pool.
“Every child deserves access to safe, enriching spaces during the summer and our pools are a vital part of that,” said David Marquardt, director of parks and recreation. “By removing cost barriers and streamlining access, we’re making it easier for all Grand Rapids families to enjoy the benefits of swimming, play and community connection – regardless of income or neighborhood.”
Starting June 6, season passes will be available for a nominal fee:
- Residents: $5 (children), $10 (adults)
- Nonresidents: $10 (children), $20 (adults)
Daily pool admission rates for the 2025 season will be:
- Residents: $3 (children), $6 (adults)
- Nonresidents: $5 (children), $10 (adults)
All three outdoor pools will have the same operating hours:
- Tuesdays through Saturdays – noon to 7 p.m.
- Sundays – 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Mondays – closed for routine cleaning and maintenance
Children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
