WYOMING, Mich. -- Construction of a new marketplace venue is moving along in Wyoming, next to the former General Motors stamping plant on 36th Street near Buchanan Avenue.

Besides being a farmers' and artisan market, the $6.2 million venue will feature live music, food demonstrations and community events. Ground was broken for the Godwin Mercado project in October. It tentatively is scheduled to be completed by late summer, with a full opening next spring.

The 75-acre site is the former G-M location on the south side of 36th Street. Benteler Automotive is building a $105 million battery components assembly plant on Buchanan Avenue.
