GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A Welcome Home reception at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport on Wednesday night will give the public a chance to greet and thank 75 veterans for their service.
Most of them are from West Michigan.
The reception begins at 8:40 p.m. It will be in the airport's Grand Hall.
The veterans are flying out of Grand Rapids this (Tuesday) morning for a two-day “Tour of Honor” in Washington, D.C., so they can visit the memorials that are dedicated to their service and sacrifices.
The Airport Authority will be joined by the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight to support the tour. The airport authority says those wanting to participate in the Welcome Home are encouraged to bring signs and American flags, and should plan to stage in a parade line throughout the terminal building.
