GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Today marks the fifth day in the trial of Christopher Schurr.
The former Grand Rapids police officer is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Patrick Lyoya during a traffic stop and struggle three years ago.
Five current Grand Rapids officers and a retired sergeant testified in Schurr's defense yesterday.
It's not yet clear if Schurr will testify.
The defense is expected to rest its case today and it could be turned over to the jury next week.
