Kentwood Police: Four people arrested after drive-by shots fired incident

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- Kentwood Police have arrested four people in connection with a shots-fired incident north of 60th Street and west of Kalamazoo Avenue.

They say the report came into county dispatch around 1 o'clock about the incident in the vicinity of Carriage Hill Drive and Ridgebrook Drive. Kentwood Captain Tim Wiergenga says that officers found several casings and multiple bullet holes in the area. He also says several weapons were recovered. The four people arrested were taken either to the Kent County Jail or the county's Juvenile Detention Center, depending on their age.

The KPD says an injury accident resulted when the fleeing vehicle collided with an uninvolved vehicle, resulting in minor injuries to the person in that car. No injuries were reported from the gunfire itself.

A Kent County Sheriff's sergeant said some schools were locked down in that general area for a brief time Monday afternoon ... East Kentwood High School, Brookwood Elementary, Discovery Elementary and Pinewood Middle School.
