GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The 10th annual Armed Forces Thanksgiving luncheon comes up Friday at the J.W. Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. Captain James Buster is with the U.S. Army Reserve and with the legal branch of the military called the Judge Advocate General's Corps.
"Veterans get to come and get a sense of appreciation for the service that they've had," Buster told West Michigan's Morning News on WOOD Radio. "They get a free meal. They get to listen and remember, and meet their colleagues and be appreciated. And they get to meet these young people and give them an idea of their service and what it means to serve. And we think that's very important."
Military installations will be set up in front of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and in Ah-Nab-Awen Park, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
"You have members of the public who get to see some of the military vehicles ... that they may not normally see in their day-to-day life," Buster said.
