HOLLAND, Mich. -- More than 75 local farmers and vendors are offering fresh produce, baked goods, and all kinds of other food products at the Holland Farmers Market.
It opened for the season today at the Eighth Street Market Place in downtown Holland. The address is 150 W. 8th St., right outside the Holland Civic Center. The farmers' market will be open every Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The marketing coordinator, Kara de Alvare, tells WOOD Radio they will be offering free kids' activities starting in June, every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Holland Farmers Market will launch next month its monthly adult Farm Fresh Workshops that are "fun, hands-on and educational," according to de Alvare.
Free on-site parking is available.
De Alvare said the farmers and vendors sell only Michigan-grown and produced items.
"So, fruits and vegetables, plants and flowers, baked goods, jam, honey, maple syrup, meat and eggs - just a huge variety of products that they bring," she said.
The Holland Farmers Market is open outside until mid-December.
DeAlvare said there is an ATM on site and the market accepts Bridge Michigan cards.
"If you are a Bridge card holder, you can redeem funds on your card and get tokens to spend at the market. And then, we participate in Double Up Food Bucks, as well. So, you can actually double your spending power for free on fresh fruits and vegetables," she said.
