Fallasburg Village Celebration to feature classic car show, kids' games

LOWELL, Mich. -- The Fallasburg Historical Society says it's fourth annual Fallasburg Village Celebration will take place on Saturday, July 26th.

They are holding a fundraiser that day.

The highlights include a classic car & motorcycle show at the Misner House. There also will be antique tractors on display and some steam-powered farm equipment. Five bands will be playing music at the Tower Farm by the food cart. Children will be able to participate in old-fashioned games, sit through a school lesson in the schoolhouse, pet the goats and mini horses. There also will be a free mini horse cart ride and horse drawn carriage rides.

Here is a more comprehensive itinerary from the FHS:

We are expanding the celebration this year so our guests can have even more to do and more fun. The goal of the celebration is to raise awareness about the amazing historical resources that the village offers, educate the public on the history of the area and to fundraise for the Fallasburg Historical Society so that they can continue to revitalize and maintain the land and buildings that comprise the Fallasburg village.

The celebration begins at 10 am in the Fallasburg Village. Highlights of the day will be a classic car & motorcycle show at the Misner House where you can admire automobiles from 1980’s and before. The antique tractors will be on display as will some steam powered farm equipment. While meandering from museum to museum, which will all be open for tours, treat yourself to the beautiful village. Civil War reenactors may be practicing drills while marching through the street. Demonstrations throughout the village will include blacksmithing, weaving, ice cream making and more! A juried artisan market featuring high quality handmade items will be in the side yard of the Fallas House. Children of all ages can participate in old-fashioned games in the gaming area, sit through a school lesson in the schoolhouse, pet the pygmy goats and mini horses and enjoy a free mini horse cart ride and horse drawn carriage rides. Word is that Santa will be visiting again this year for Christmas in July. New this year will be Croquet, come learn about and play the game. Try your hand at metal detecting and see if you can find treasure. Make some noise trying out antique typewriters. There will also be a Covered Bridge walk, take a guided tour of the beautiful Fallasburg Covered Bridge, learn about its history and construction close up.

There will be 5 bands playing this year, Hawks & Owls, Cheater B’s, Chick & the Boomers, Easy Idle, and singer songwriter and movie star Sophie Bolen. The bands will be located at the Tower Farm by the food court.

A $5 hot dog meal, walking taco, or pizza meal will be available on the grounds as will a $10 pulled pork sandwich with a side.

Parking, located in the old Fallasburg Flats ball field, is available for $5 per car. Please access the celebration from McPherson Road; access to the Celebration from the bridge will be limited to walking. All funds raised will assist the Fallasburg Historical Society in maintaining and updating the village.
