Memorial Day weekend is one of the first long weekends of the year, and marks the unofficial start of the summer travel season.
AAA says more than 45 million Americans are expected to travel for the holiday which marks a new record for the weekend.
The Gerald R. Ford International Airport is expecting 70,000 people to travel through its terminals in that same time period.
Friday is expected to be the busiest day for departures and Monday will be the busiest day for arrivals in West Michigan.
Airport staff encourages travelers to arrive at least two hours before their flight.
