GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Some heavy hitters will be speaking at the West Michigan CEO Summit on June 10 in downtown Grand Rapids.
It will run from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the J.W. Marriott.
Former Michigan State head football coach Mark Dantonio will deliver the keynote comments. He led the Spartans to three Big Ten Conference championships, including MSU's first 13-win season in 2013 capped off by a Rose Bowl win and a final ranking of No. 3 in the nation.
On West Michigan's Morning News, the Grand Rapids Chamber's senior vice president, Andy Johnston, commented on Dantonio's upcoming speech.
"The tagline for that I have is, 'Half of you are going to love it. Everyone's going to learn something from him. As a Spartan, this was a really nice addition," Johnston said.
This year's summit is subtitled, "A Resilient Edge." It's about how top executives can sustain momentum and sharpen strategic focus.
"The thesis is simple. It's a Chamber of Commerce thesis for the event: If you can become a better leader by learning from other leaders, you're going to create stronger companies and create more job opportunities that contribute to a thriving West Michigan," Johnston said.
He talked about some of the many CEO's who will be speaking at the summit.
"Miguel Moreno. He's the chief executive officer of Roskamp Foods. You're going to love his energy and his story about building trust within an organization. Another one that I would highlight is Andy Havemeier with Wealthy Street Bakery. He's got a story of resilience. At one time, he was homeless and now is growing his business and expanding it," Johnston said.
Some of the other scheduled speakers include Acrisure President John Tuttle; The Windquest Group CEO & President Greg McNeilly; Management Business Solutions Inc. CEO Floriza Genautis; CraftCo. CEO Ali Anderson; Joe Jones, president & CEO of The Hekima Group; and Chamber executives Rick Banker and Jen Crowley.
