Sinas Dramis Law Firm is holding a Lids for Kids event on Saturday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at Garfield Park.
Children will be fit with a custom bike helmet, learn important bicycle safety tips and enjoy family-friendly activities.
Kids will also be able to enter to wine a brand new bike, meet local firefighters and explore a fire engine.
For over a decade, Lids for Kids has promoted bike safety in Grand Rapids and has provided almost 4,500 children with the most important tool for preventing bike-related head and brain injuries: a properly fitted helmet.
According to research, wearing a bike helmet can reduce the risk of head injuries by 85%, brain injuries by 88% and severe brain injuries by at least 75%. Yet, only 15% of kids ages 14 and under consistently wear a helmet while riding a bike.
The event is sponsored by Sinas Dramis Law Firm and the Brain Injury Association of Michigan.
