Cherry Health's mobile vision clinic offering eyecare service

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Cherry Health's mobile vision clinic is rotating weekly between five locations now through August 22.

It offers dilated eye exams and eyeglass frames. Dr. Meagan Baker, Cherry Health's director of Vision Services, says the mobile vision clinic offers eyecare services in a new way to patients who might otherwise have difficulty getting vision care.

Cherry Health’s Mobile Vision Clinic, which debuted in the summer of 2024, offers complete dilated eye exams and a wide selection of eyeglass frames. If prescribed, patients can pick out eyeglass frames during their appointment at the Mobile Vision Clinic and pick them up at their preferred Cherry Health location when they’re ready.

“The Cherry Health Mobile Vision Clinic offers eye care services in a new way to patients who might otherwise have difficulties receiving vision care,” said Dr. Meagan Baker, director of Vision Services at Cherry Health. “During the school year, the mobile vision clinic is used by our traveling school vision program, See to Succeed, providing comprehensive eye exams to students at their schools. This is the second year we are bringing services to Cherry Health locations that currently do not provide vision services over the summer months. This is just another way that Cherry Health continues to ensure that every door is the right door for our patients, meaning that no matter how a patient accesses our services, they should be able to easily access all the services we provide.”

Services are available for anyone in the community, not just Cherry Health patients. Medicaid and most other insurance plans are accepted. For those without insurance, a sliding fee payment scale based on income and family/household size is available. Interpretation services are also available.
