Driver flees from Kentwood Police before striking some cruisers

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- A woman who allegedly fled from police before causing a traffic crash in Kentwood is being charged with fleeing & eluding and resisting & obstructing.

Kentwood Police say officers responded to a report of a woman falling asleep while driving a car around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

They say they later located her near 28th Street but she allegedly fled after being contacted by officers. After a short chase, the suspect's vehicle crashed into several police cruisers at 44th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue.

Police say she was first taken a hospital and later to the Kent County Jail on the charges. Some other drivers suffered minor injuries at the crash scene. Her name and age had not been released yet at the time of this report late Wednesday afternoon.
