GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Former University of Michigan president Santa Ono has been rejected by Florida's Board of Governors to become the next president at the University of Florida.

The vote was 10-6.

Conservatives on the panel voiced concerns about Gaza war protests on Ann Arbor campus and Ono's support for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Ono had been approved unanimously by trustees in May.
