Pride festival in Greenville to take place as scheduled

STANTON (WOOD-AM) - This month's Voices of Flat River Pride Festival in Montcalm County will take place as scheduled on the 28th.

County commissioners held a meeting last night about the event.

Commissioners rejected the calls to revoke a rental agreement on the grounds that a decades-old county parks ordinance is not routinely enforced.

“Will there be enough parking? Will the sheriff’s department be able to be there to make sure people don’t park on the street? That’s a dangerous corner there,” a resident said during public comment.

Others had broader issues with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender movement.

The event at McCarthy Park in Greenville was approved earlier this year.
