Grand Rapids Police say a deadly shooting on the southeast side of the city early Friday morning may have stemmed from a fight.
Officers were called to a home on Cass Avenue near Garden Street around 1 a.m.
GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom says the call originally came in for a stabbing but officers arrived on scene and found the victim was shot.
Semaj James died from his injuries at the scene.
Winstrom says it appears the shooting stemmed from an altercation but they don't have the full details yet. The incident is still under investigation
