Weapons charge may be connected to homicide

An 18-year-old is facing a weapons charge after he allegedly fired a weapon outside an apartment complex in Alpine Township on Sunday.

Santiago Barajas is charged with carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held on $100,000 bond cash or surety as the weapon may have been used in a homicide.

Barajas told police he fired the weapon into the ground twice during a Facebook Marketplace transaction during which he was robbed.

Deputies were called to the area around 11:30 a.m. Sunday on reports of the sound of gunshots. Officials arrived on scene and told police Barajas had fired a gun.

Later that day, the body of 28-year-old Mark Allen Blakley III was found in the woods behind the York Creek Apartments, near the area where Barajas had been.
