Man arrested after allegedly firing gunshot at teenager in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- Kentwood Police report no injuries after a 19-year-old man allegedly fired a gunshot at a 17-year-old girl around 8 o'clock this morning.

It happened in the 200 block of 48th Street, east of Division Avenue.

Detectives say the two were having an argument at the time. One round was fired but it did not hit the female. Police said the man fled from the scene. However, he was later taken into custody and taken to the Kent County Correctional Facility.

The KPD provided more information in a news release:

"Several hours later the male suspect contacted and met with Kentwood Police Department Detectives. He has since been lodged at Kent County Correctional Facility on related charges. No injuries were reported and there is not an ongoing threat to the public."
