The Grand Haven City Council is approving a zoning change that brings a hotel project one step closer to reality.
Officials approved the change for the corner of Third St. and Washington Ave.
The next hurdle is parking. The city and Marriott both require a one-to-one ratio of parking spots to hotel rooms.
The area now needs 129 parking spots to follow that guidance. The hotel and the city are exploring options like overnight street parking and parking agreements with nearby surface lots.
