GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties are part of an extreme heat watch posted by the National Weather Service.

It runs from Saturday through Tuesday.

A string of low to mid-90s will be seen. That's not record-breaking weather, but still more than 10 degrees above average for this time of year.

The heat index is expected to surpass 100 degrees.

Forecasters say temperatures will still remain in the low-to-mid 80s after the heat passes.
