GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Former Michigan governors John Engler and Jim Blanchard will participate in a panel discussion Thursday at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in downtown Grand Rapids.
They, along with former Lieutenant Governor John Cherry and former Congressman Mike Bishop will talk about the findings of a new poll on elections in Michigan. They are members of the bipartisan board of the Democracy Defense Project.
The panel will include:
- Gov. John Engler – Former Governor of Michigan
- Gov. James Blanchard – Former Governor of Michigan and U.S. Ambassador to Canada
- Rep. Mike Bishop – Former U.S. Congressman and Michigan Senate Majority Leader
- Lt. Gov. John Cherry Jr. – Former Michigan Lieutenant Governor

The event will include a presentation of newly commissioned polling from Richard Czuba and the Glengariff Group, exploring how Michigan voters view the state of democracy, trust in elections, and the role of voters in shaping public policy. Following the poll presentation, attendees will hear from the Democracy Defense Project Board members, who will discuss the implications of the data and offer strategies to strengthen public confidence in democratic systems.
