A Muskegon County man says a wastewater treatment plant needs more security after he got stuck in a pond and seriously injured himself.
On Thursday night, Chris Minzey fell into a basin of sewer and stormwater at the Muskegon County Wastewater Treatment Facility. Minzey was too injured to climb out of the pond.
A passerby saw Minzey around 6:30 a.m. Friday and called 911.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for a brain bleed, collapsed lung, broken ribs and shattered vertebra.
The wastewater property is around 11,000 acres and many people like to watch wildlife or go hunting there.
A spokesperson for the county says they have not had an incident like this happen before that they are aware of.
