John Ball Zoo escape room experience returns Friday with 'Locked Zoo' event

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The John Ball Zoo escape room experiences will return Friday evening with an after-hours adventured called, "Locked Zoo: Cryptic Cats."

Organizers say teams will be invited to unravel nature-related mysteries, solve intricate puzzles and explore the zoo in a new way. Locked Zoo is offered for guests ages 18 and older in teams of one to six people. The hours on Friday will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The zoo provides more information in a news release:

“We are thrilled that guests had an amazing experience during our first Locked Zoo event last year and are so excited to bring this unique experience back in a new way,” said Darci Mitchell, events and promotions manager at the Zoo. “Locked Zoo is a great way to spend a night out with friends, explore the Zoo with no children and help contribute to the conservation of wildlife and wild places in Michigan and around the world.”

Guests can enter the Zoo any time between 6-8 p.m. It is recommended they begin two hours before the event ends in order to complete the challenge. Each team will need at least one fully charged cell phone to complete tasks. A variety of food and drink options will be available for purchase during the event.

The July 11 event isn’t the only chance to have an escape room experience at the Zoo this season. John Ball Zoo will also host the following Locked Zoo events:

All Locked Zoo events are $30 for Zoo members and $35 for non-members. Tickets are available through the Zoo’s website for all of the events.
