LOWELL, Mich. -- Live music, comedy shows, and food vendors are some of the things patrons can check out at the Riverwalk Festival in Lowell beginning Thursday night.
The 30th annual event begins at 5 p.m. with shopping and dining, self-guided tours and other activities. The event also runs tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, you can watch street entertainers and shop the Riverwalk Marketplace. At 7 p.m., a six-piece band will perform classic and current hit songs. On Saturday, there will be a "Run the Riverwalk 5K" and the Riverwalk Cruise-In Car Show. Various activities will continue into the evening, including two comedy shows as part of the Lowell Showboat “Boat Bash."
Here are more details from the Riverwalk Festival's webpage.
The first Riverwalk Festival was a two-day event held over Labor Day Weekend and featured a “Duck Race”. In 2003, the Riverwalk planning committee determined a date change was needed to avoid competing with the holiday weekend. The Riverwalk Festival was moved to the second weekend in July, occurring over two nights and one full day. At the same time, fireworks, kayak races, and a classic car show were added.
Although we no longer dump plastic ducks in the water to race, the mainstay Duck Raffle, arts and crafts vendors, food, live entertainment, 5k run/walk, car show, and fireworks continue to be the focus of Riverwalk Festival.
