HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- Mel Trotter Ministries is cutting a ceremonial ribbon Thursday morning for its new thrift store in Hudsonville.
It will be at 9 a.m.
Mel Trotter is the largest provider of services to people experiencing hunger and homelessness in West Michigan.
This new retail and donation center is located at 5221 Cherry Avenue near the intersection of Chicago Drive and 36th Avenue. It’s the seventh thrift store now in operation by Mel Trotter Ministries and will employ 14 people.
“We’re very excited to add this new thrift store location in Hudsonville,” said Chris Palusky, CEO of Mel Trotter Ministries. “We’re constantly looking for ways to enhance our services to the region and bring the compassion of Jesus Christ to our neighbors in need. The addition of this new store will allow us to more effectively serve people in the Hudsonville area, and offer quality items for families needing affordable clothing and home goods.”
Here are more details from MTM news release:
Community members are invited to attend the event and take a tour of the new 13,475 square-foot facility. The store will also serve as a convenient drop-off center for community members looking to donate their new or gently used items.
Proceeds generated through retail sales help to pay for services offered by Mel Trotter Ministries, including the operation of the main shelter, the recovery programs, job training, and the housing programs.
The grand opening event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 am. Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be served. Hudsonville Mayor Mark Northrup is expected to join Mel Trotter representatives at the event.
