GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Civic Theater and Broadway Grand Rapids will host the Lip Sync Battle 2025 on Tuesday evening at the civic theatre.
It's titled, "Rock of Ages versus Juliet." Noddea Skidmore said on West Michigan's Morning News it is a music battle between the organization's respective jukebox musicals. Skidmore is the director of Marketing & Communications for the Civic Theatre.
After a pre-social gathering, the Lip Sync Battle will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Representing iHeart Media's WOOD Radio and Star 105.7 will be Lauren "Schmitty" Smith.
"I won't give away the songs, but I will tell you you'll hear a little bit of REO Speedwagon and you'll hear a little bit of Backstreet Boys," Smith said.
The Lip Sync Battle also will serve as a fundraiser to help cover the daily expenses and programs at the Civic Theatre and Broadway Grand Rapids.
"The cost of tickets to enter the theatre and see a show only covers about 35 percent of the expenses that we incur throughout the year, in order to keep our theatre and our civic School of Theatre Arts open and running," Skidmore told WOOD Radio.
According to the Pure Michigan website, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is the largest community theatre in Michigan and one of the five largest in the United States. It has more than 6,000 season ticketholders.
