Two women shot during car meet-up in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Grand Rapids police say two women have been shot at a car meet-up south of 36th Street near Steelcase Access.

They were shot yesterday around 3:40 a.m.

Reportedly, the gunfire was reported after an argument.

The women are between 18 and 24 years old. It's not known if they were the intended targets.

Matthew Wodwarek works at a plant near the parking lot and says a group is seen there frequently.

"Crazy stuff," Wodwarek said. "Loud music, I’ve seen fireworks, I’ve seen just awesome cars just getting toasted, probably mom and dad's cars."

A car at the meetup also caught fire due to overheated tires.
