CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Michigan State Police say a 63-year-old Grand Rapids man has died following a crash Wednesday around 5:40 p.m. on M-6 in Cascade Township.
Troopers said in a social media post that his westbound vehicle veered off the freeway east of Broadmoor Avenue and hit a pole. The car then caught fire.
A passerby pulled him out of the vehicle, but he later died at a hospital. The man's name had not been released at the time of this report late Thursday morning.
State Police are investigating why the car went off the road.
MSP said in the news release: "The driver was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Please keep this family in your thoughts."
