Gold Coast Doulas kicks off month-long Charity Diaper Drive on Sept. 1

KENT COUNTY, Mich. -- Gold Coast Doulas has set a goal of collecting 20,000 donated diapers in September of support families in need in Kent, Ottawa and Allegan counties.

The 10th annual Charity Diaper Drive benefits the Nestlings Diaper Bank of West Michigan and the Great Start Parent Coalition of Kent County.

"And they distribute the diapers to organizations that serve families in need," Kristin Revere said. She is the founder and owner of Gold Coast Doulas, a Certified B corporation.

Here is the weblink.

Nestlings works with 31 partner agencies to distribute the diapers. For the entire month of September, you can donate boxes and packages of disposable diapers and gently used diapers, and open bags at various locations in West Michigan. The list is posted below.

Holland-based Nestlings has distributed more than 3 million diapers and helped about 50,000 families since 2011. They distributed nearly 400,000 diapers in 2024.

Revere said they received 14,910 diapers last year, just short of the 15,000 goal. So, setting a goal of 20,000 is bold but also reflects the 10th anniversary spirit that is accompanying this year's drive.

The timing is good, because National Diaper Needs Awareness Week is Sept. 15-21.

Diaper Need Awareness Week is an initiative of the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN), created to make a difference in the lives of the nearly 5.2 million babies in the United States aged three or younger who live in poor or low-income families.

"Clean diapers significantly impact the health of new families, and our charitable giving focus is on supporting low-income women and children," Gold Coast Doulas said in a news release.

They accept both opened and unopened boxes and packages of new disposable diapers, gently used cloth diapers and cloth supplies, brand-new cloth diapers, and unopened boxes or packages of wipes.
