Park Township reviewing outdoor siren system

PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Park Township leaders are considering expanding the outdoor siren system after severe weather this spring and summer damaged West Michigan communities.

The Park Township Board of Trustees hosted a special meeting in August to discuss the outdoor weather sirens. The board discussed the advantages like a track record of effectiveness and redundancy in the warning system. The discussion also touched on the disadvantages of the sirens like different municipalities having different guidelines for when the alarms are triggered.

Documents shared in the meeting show nine places where sirens could be added.
