Undated, Mich. -- DoorDash has revealed that Twizzlers Twists are the most popular Halloween candy in Michigan this year. The food delivery service used order data to identify the top Trick-or-Treat candies in each state. While Reese's Peanut Butter Cups remain the most popular candy nationwide, topping the list in 14 states, Michigan has shown a preference for the red licorice treat.
According to Lansing State Journal, the Midwest, including Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio, stands firmly on Team Twizzlers, while Red Vines are favored in western states like Arizona and Idaho. Twizzlers, originally created in 1927, have become a staple in the candy industry, offering a variety of flavors such as cherry, strawberry, and watermelon.
Nationwide, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups continue to dominate, but other candies like Sweet Tarts and Snickers are also popular. Newsweek reports that nostalgic candies are making a comeback, with Baby Bottle Pop and Strawberry Bon Bons seeing significant increases in orders.
Michigan's candy sales are slightly above the national average, with residents purchasing candy 6% more often than the average shopper, as noted by Detroit Free Press. As Halloween approaches, families in Michigan are stocking up on their favorite treats to prepare for trick-or-treaters.
