Costco is set to open its first warehouse in Muskegon County on Wednesday, October 29. Located at 6110 S. Harvey Street in Fruitport Township, the new 152,000-square-foot facility will be the fourth Costco location in West Michigan and the nineteenth in the state. The warehouse will offer a variety of services, including a gas station, bakery, deli, tire center, pharmacy, optical center, and hearing aid center.
Warehouse Manager Mark Zuerner stated, "Costco’s arrival into this area is a win for the community. We promise to bring good jobs to the residents of the area, while also offering the immediate benefit of quality goods and services that Costco members have come to trust." The store will employ 220 people and carry up to 4,000 products.
Previously, residents of Muskegon County had to travel to Grandville, Grand Rapids, or Kalamazoo to shop at Costco. The new location aims to make bulk shopping more convenient for local residents. The store will operate Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Executive members can begin shopping daily at 9:00 a.m.
The Fruitport location will be Costco’s 916th worldwide, marking a significant expansion in West Michigan. The new warehouse is expected to provide both economic and practical benefits to the community by offering a wide range of products and services under one roof.
