GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Professional Firefighters Local 366 feared some people may have been trapped in a 3-story apartment building fire early this morning.
It was in the 2400 block of Normandy Drive, which is north of 28th Street and west of Breton Road.
According to a Local 366 social media post, crews arrived at 12:27 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the second floor. When they got inside, they found the fire and realized some people were on that floor. While fighting the fire, they used a ladder to access the second floor, do some firefighter egress and ventilate the building.
It turned out no one was trapped.
They knocked the fire down quickly, containing it to one unit. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
