Bicyclist killed in Blendon Township crash

BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says a 54-year-old Allendale man was killed Friday afternoon when he was struck by a semi-truck in Blendon Township.

It happened around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of 72nd Avenue and Barry Street.

Police say the 78-year-old Kent City man who was driving the semi-truck was heading south and trying to pass the southbound bicyclist. Just then, the bike turned left and was hit by the truck.

The OCSO is still investigating the crash.

Responding agencies included the OCSO, the Blendon Township Fire Department, Life Ambulance and Hudsonville Towing.
