MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. -- Amir Sincere Petty, 26, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of Jamarr Burse, 24, in Muskegon County. The sentencing took place on Thursday (November 20) after a jury found Petty guilty of first-degree murder. The incident occurred in December 2022 when Burse was killed in an ambush-style shooting on Getty Street in Norton Shores. A teen passenger in the vehicle was also injured.

Petty showed no remorse during the sentencing and did not offer an apology or explanation for his actions. The courtroom was filled with Burse's family and loved ones, who shared emotional impact statements. Ieshia Burse, Jamarr's sister, described her brother as one of the happiest people she knew and expressed her grief and anger towards Petty.

In addition to the life sentence for murder, Petty received additional sentences for charges including felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of felony firearm.
